We take a look at paper quilling , a craft that involves curling, rolling and shaping strips of paper into different decorative shapes which are then glued together to create different designs. There are advanced techniques and different sized paper that are used to create 3d miniatures, abstract art and quilled flowers among others. Our reporter Lillian Mwelu tells us the story of Fatema Qureish , a paper quilling artist who manipulates a simple manilla paper to make a wide range of decorations.
MORE PICS HERE: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lucaiaconistewart/sets/72157639452020185/ I just finished the left side main landing gear for the 1:60 model 777 I'm building from manila folders. Since I don't have the wings complete yet, I had to build a test jig to ensure that the gear works properly. This is a video of the gear swing. Each side has over 1,000 pieces of paper, and is fully articulated as it would be on the actual aircraft. The gear retracts and extends, the gear truck tilts up and down, the strut "absorbs" the weight of the plane, and the rear axle turns from side to side. I've tested the gear with 5lbs of weight without a problem. To see how the actual thing works, check out this video: http://youtu.be/AlcWkghTTqA?t=1m3s Filmed with a Sony Nex-7 (Kit 18-55mm lens)
A brief explanation of how thrust reversers work, and how I tried to replicate their function on my model. Each engine contains about 900 pieces of paper, and took ~2 months to build. I used several other videos from Youtube, which you can find in their entirety here (in order of appearance): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtF6lC2iLI8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0zpK5aPyU4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVVah2IMWAo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvpj1BV-sCk Filmed with a Canon Vixia HF100
Update #35 Happy new year everyone! It is 2017 and from checking my Skyway updates beginning 2014... progress seems to be quite unsatisfactory on some sections of the Skyway project... But still thinking positive that works will have a fast pace starting this year. You can skip the reverse or southbound version since i have integrated two versions into one video making this video measure up to 30 minutes + , there are some works that cannot be seen on northbound that is why i tried to make a southbound drive too. As for section 1, the current works along Buendia seems to have minimal progress (not much piers done) but along P Ocampo intersection, this area there are notable progress. There are markings along Paco Santa mesa road for the piers... If this is the case then there is an im...
